History
Goodwyn Mills and Cawood honors the knowledge
and insights gained from its rich history. The firm’s heritage and culture has
grown from the important intertwining of diverse legacies, from sharing of
experience and knowledge between respected leaders and young leaders to be, and
from decades of entrepreneurial spirit and innovative drive.
The
firm was established in 1975 by Don Mills and George Goodwyn as an engineering
business. The leaders identified emerging talent from within and Steve Cawood
joined the company as partner forming the present Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood. In
the 1980s, GMC began the evolution into a multi-disciplined firm when
architecture was incorporated into the firm’s services. Later, landscape
architecture, transportation engineering and environmental engineering were
added to the firm’s menu of services.
As decades passed,
the firm leveraged its core competencies and reputation. New offices were
acquired and opened and success stories were forged. Today, Goodwyn Mills and
Cawood -- with ten offices and almost 300 employees -- is privileged to be among
the Southeast's most respected engineering and architecture firms. The company
celebrates its history and continues to build a
legacy that lead our clients into the future.
