Hyundai Motor Manufacturing of Alabama
Montgomery, Alabama
The new $1 billion Montgomery Hyundai Plant will not only create over 2,000 jobs for the Montgomery area, but numerous spin-off businesses including suppliers who are already gathering hundreds of acres of land in the area for development. Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood, Inc. was retained by the City of Montgomery and Montgomery County to provide various engineering and land surveying services for the new Hyundai Plant to be located in Hope Hull. The services included Right of Way deed research, maps and descriptions, site design, storm sewer design, utilities design, environmental impact studies, FEMA, hydrological studies, and rail spur.
GM&C also provided engineering and surveying services for the improvements to Teague Road, which directly supports all traffic for the plant. The road has been transformed from a County Road to a bifurcated four-lane highway connecting the new U.S. Highway 31 to U.S. Highway 331. This project included the removal of two existing bridges and replacement with two Interstate multi-lane bridges and two water way bridges over Wiley Creek. Right of way and utility coordination were paramount during this project, which came in $2 million under budget at $ 7.4 million.
