Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood, Inc. designed the new Master Plan for the Montgomery Zoo’s expansion. The project involved the relocation of the main entrance, an intricate infrastructure of roads, utilities, irrigation and drainage, and parking lots. Special facilities including the large cat buildings, an elephant house, bear dens, a giraffe barn, an educational complex, viewing stations, a veterinary clinic, and ponds were constructed. To provide comfort to the guests, a 140-foot-wide octagonal concession, restroom, and overlook building was constructed as the hub of the zoo. More recent zoo projects include the entrance gate and the elephant exhibit, currently under construction.
