Nokia Office Building
Huntsville, Alabama
Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood, Inc. (Goodrum Knowles) designed this 57,000 SF facility to support the requirements for corporate identity by using characteristics of contemporary and Finnish design. The space plan for the Nokia North Alabama Regional Office includes an open office workstation system for design engineers supplemented with conference and training facilities and secured access laboratories and ancillary spaces. An indirect lighting system was utilized since it best supports the computer environment.
To accommodate Nokia’s use of video conferencing and classroom training efforts, a conference room for 24 people and a training room for 50 people were designed. Ease of use and security are key concerns. A multi-zoned indirect lighting system allows the presenter to remotely control the lighting environment. Acoustical upholstered wall panels and draperies reduce sound transmission during secured conferences. The scope of work includes the development of an interior finish palette as well as specifications, procurement and installation coordination for furniture and art.
