Downtown Prattville Revitalization

History. Tranquil scenery. Usefulness. These words can best be used to describe the Phase II Downtown Revitalization Improvements in the City of Prattville. The project is set in the historic district of downtown Prattville and adjoins with the Phase I improvements completed in 2003. With the natural flow of Autauga Creek being the main focus of the project, it is not hard to understand why the proposed improvements include the construction of a creek walk and observation deck. The observation deck overlooks the creek and offers a setting for a peaceful gaze over the creek or a signature location for festive City functions. The observation deck and creek walk also connect the newly constructed parking area to the historic downtown sites. Although the creation of additional parking spaces was the primary function, the proposed landscaping and brick pavers in the parking area will divert the attention away from the asphalt parking lot and the usefulness of 75 parking spaces. The parking area and creek walk will be lit with decorative period lighting for those late evening walks or city wide festivities. To accentuate the visual stimulation, the area has been designed to include sound equipment for use during City festivals or holiday celebrations. The project encompasses the desire to meet the City’s needs in the downtown area while offering a scenic area for the enjoyment of all.
