Paint Rock River Stream Restoration
Size: 500 linear feet
Status: Completed 2009
GMC provided the design and construction oversight of a stream stabilization project for the Alabama Landowner Incentive Program. The stabilization site included more than 500 linear feet of impaired stream that was undercutting and massively eroding private property. The project consisted of Priority 4 natural channel design restoration techniques. The channel was re-aligned to its historic patterns, and the banks were graded to a more gradual slope to reduce erosion and allow for the establishment of permanent vegetation. Mid-channel bar was removed to eliminate erosive forces on the stream bank. The work was performed under the supervision of Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and the Nature Conservancy.
