Woodland Middle School Auditorium
Status: Completed 2014
GMC provided the geotechnical and construction services during the design and construction of the new auditorium at Woodland Middle School. Geotechnical exploration consisted of excavating test pits through the fill materials placed during the mass grading of the site for the construction of the existing Woodland Middle School to evaluate the make-up of the fill materials, which included soil and shot rock fill. Soil borings were also performed to evaluate the subsurface conditions and to determine the depth of bedrock in the building area. Geotechnical recommendations included site preparation and options to handle the varied depths of the existing fill materials and recommended total and differential settlements of the structure using different foundation systems. GMC provided the construction materials testing and special inspections, which included shallow foundation observations, concrete placements and testing, and masonry construction observation and testing.
