National Building Museum Highlights Park Crossing as a Leader in Safe Rooms for Schools
Washington , Washington, D.C.
The National Building Museum (NBM) is America’s leading cultural institution devoted to the history and impact of the built environment, telling the stories of architecture, engineering and design. GMC’s Park Crossing High School was selected by NBM curators for the Designing for Disaster exhibit that explores a range of flexible design and planning schemes, public policies and new forecasting technologies as ways to reduce risks before the next disaster. The selected structures are geographically dispersed throughout the country and have been designed to address at least one hazard in an exemplary way. By showcasing innovative research, cutting-edge materials and technologies, and new thinking about how to work with natural systems and the environment, the exhibition presents a range of viable responses that are functional, pragmatic, and beautiful.
