VIDEO: Restoring Newnan in the aftermath of an EF-4 tornado
September 18, 2024 · Community, Projects
GMC’s Disaster Recovery Team assisted the City of Newnan, Georgia after an EF-4 tornado ravaged the city in March of 2021.
Robert Ramsey and his team worked hand-in-hand with the City of Newnan to not only recover from the disaster but build back stronger. The team had boots on the ground and got to work immediately helping with clean-up and damage assessment. From the start, the GMC team encouraged the city to record everything for the purpose of reimbursement from FEMA. Through the hard work of all involved, Newnan received an extraordinary 96% reimbursement of funds in record time. The community is now rebuilding with a solid foundation as it continues to recover.
The mundane, time-consuming and often unseen steps in the process helped to recover funds to begin laying a solid foundation to rebuild. Since the events, the city has worked with GMC’s disaster recovery team to strategize and create a stronger plan for when a disastrous storm comes next. Newnan is resilient and now they are more prepared than ever.
