Bill currently leads GMC’s mergers and acquisitions growth strategy and assists with large-scale comprehensive business development initiatives. Previously, he led GMC as the firm’s first CEO, overseeing a period of rapid growth, expansion and diversification. Under Bill’s leadership, GMC earned recognition as one of the nation’s top AE firms and has been the recipient of many prestigious awards. In his more than 30 years of practice, he has been instrumental in the firm’s overall business performance, its culture and identity, and geographic expansion. Bill began his career with GMC in 1986 when he was tasked with starting the firm’s architectural division. Over the years, it has grown to be the largest architectural practice in Alabama and one of the largest, most comprehensive design firms in the Southeast. He is heavily involved in numerous creative, civic and leadership institutions. Currently, Bill serves on the Board of Directors for Leadership Alabama, chairs the Higher Education Partnership for the State of Alabama and is an appointed member of the State Health Planning Certificate of Need Board. He was also invited by Governor Kay Ivey to be a member of her Inaugural Committee Team. In the past, Bill served as chairman of the River Region United Way, coordinated the Kidney Walk for the Montgomery metro area, was chairman of the Business Committee for the Arts and a board member of the Jackson Hospital Foundation and Teach for America Alabama. He graduated with a Bachelor of Environmental Design and Architecture from Auburn University, in addition to post-graduate studies at Harvard University.
