Lockheed Martin, Building 401 Renovations
Huntsville, Alabama
Size: 50,000 sf
GMC completed the renovation of the original headquarters building constructed in 1962. The goal of this renovation was to create a central campus facility for employees, new hires and visitors. The project involved the pre-planning of administrative office space for a full-service café, training / conference center and an on-site wellness center including aerobics room and locker/shower rooms. Programming was included for a regional recruiting center and security operations. The building exterior remains mostly intact; however, a main entry canopy similar to existing campus buildings and a canopy for outdoor dining were added. The Lockheed Martin Café incorporates interior and exterior dining. The western exterior of Building 401 incorporates a green space with covered patio dining to allow employees and visitors to enjoy meals outside.
