Alabama Allergy and Asthma Center
Birmingham, Alabama
Size: 14,000 sf
The iconic 14,000 square-foot building in Birmingham, Alabama, was renovated for Alabama Allergy and Asthma Center to provide new clinic and research space for some of the best allergy and asthma specialists in the country. The project entailed three major components: a four-pod clinic, a shot room for weekly allergy treatments and a research lab. Every space was meticulously designed to support the center’s extensive list of services, which includes the following: asthma diagnosis testing, respiratory care treatment, sinus care treatment, allergy diagnostics testing, allergy shots, rhinoscopy, pulmonary function testing, ECG (ekg), rush immunotherapy, complete care for pediatric and adult asthma and allergy, flu shots, digital X-ray and NIOX airway measurement/monitoring. Areas designated for research and clinical trials allow the physicians to stay up-to-date with the most current practices and to continue offering the most current treatments and care for their patients. An unobstructed view of the waiting area is an important feature in keeping patient safety as a top priority by allowing staff to easily monitor patients following a shot treatment in case of an adverse reaction. In addition, all of the registration, billing and clinical staff spaces are connected to maximize efficiency and create an environment that enhances collaboration.
