Opelika Power Services
Size: 19,749 sf offices; 25,200 sf warehouse
The City of Opelika and Opelika Power Services, formerly Opelika Light & Power, made history as the first municipality in Alabama to implement a city-wide fiber optic network, giving them the capacity to offer residents not only power, but also voice, data and video services. GMC’s extensive site studies led to the selection of an approximately 20-acre site on Fox Run Parkway, consolidating several buildings previously scattered throughout the city, to one central location. This carefully sculpted site provides the owner maximum flexibility to accommodate future growth in all facets, from expansion of the satellite yard, administration building and customer service, to parking and warehouse and storage buildings. GMC provided architecture, planning, electrical engineering, civil engineering, surveying, interior design (including furniture selection) and environmental services for the project, and is proud to be a part of this milestone for both the City of Opelika and the State of Alabama.
