Greensboro Municipal Airport
Greensboro, Alabama
Since 2007, GMC has worked with the City of Greensboro on a variety of engineering projects to improve the City’s municipal airport. The GMC team provided a Runway Rehabilitation to reconstruct existing runway pavement using full depth reclamation (FDR). Our firm provided construction materials testing and laboratory testing of materials during construction. This project replaced failed pavement and corrected cross slope. The team also provided engineering services for the Taxiway Rehabilitation involving removal and replacement of connector taxiways to replace failed pavement, damaged drainage structures and correct taxiway safety area slopes. An update to the Airport Layout Plan was also performed. GMC has assisted City in purchasing land in the runway protection zone and removing obstructions to the approach. The Airport was closed due to obstructions when GMC was hired. The project corrected issues and resulted in the reopening of the airport. Perimeter Fencing has also been installed on the newly acquired land which was cleared and fenced to secure the airport perimeter. A full replacement of airfield electrical including new electrical vault has also been provided.
