McLemore Plantation Wetlands and Stream Mitigation Banking
Size: 717 acres
GMC worked to establish a wetland and stream mitigation bank on 717 acres of private land in Montgomery County. This mitigation bank restores, enhances, and preserves degraded wetland and stream habitat through a series of site improvements and ecological restoration. These improvements consist of eliminating man-made impediments to natural hydrology (e.g. roads, culverts, and ditches), eradicating exotic and invasive species, reestablishing bottomland hardwood forest, and establishing a long-term protection and management program. A flood study was conducted to evaluate the potential impacts from these diverse developments.
