Architecture

Great architecture today is about much more than aesthetics. It reflects a larger social context, an inherent commitment to designing places that will make a lasting contribution. Within the discipline of architecture, GMC captures the spirit of how people and organizations use space, and work collaboratively with clients, communities and end users to create buildings that work well on every level, inside and out.

Greenville Drive Fluor Field

Greenville, South Carolina

Project Awards: 2017 Best Ballpark Renovation (MiLB), Ballpark Digest Awards

Major improvements at Fluor Field were completed just in time for the 2017 baseball season, enhancing the in-stadium game day experience for Greenville Drive fans. A minor-league affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, the Drive’s home field further emulates Fenway Park, with the addition of 100 seats above the iconic Green Monster. The design includes a new headquarters office for the owner and his team with direct access to the Green Monster seats. Located more than 30 feet above field level, the Green Monster seating provides one of the most unique vantage points at the park. The Drive front office was relocated to the second floor of the fieldhouse building, with an ADA-accessible bridge connecting to the seating area. The top of the building features amenities and rooftop seating overlooking Fluor Field and can accommodate groups of 100 people for game days or special events, and a new canopy provides shade and rain protection. New stadium signage was also added, capping off the area. GMC collaborated on the project with the original team that led the design and construction of Fluor Field in 2005. The team includes DLR Group, Centennial American Properties, McLeod Landscape Architects and Trehel Corporation.
