GMC’s Geotechnical engineers evaluate earth materials such as soil, rock and groundwater and how they interact with structures such as building foundations, retaining systems and roadways. Our geotechnical expertise is often used in GMC’s large multidisciplinary designs and is frequently sought by clients as a service in its own right. From preliminary design and analysis through testing and observation during construction, GMC’s geotechnical engineers can provide the expertise for long term, cost-effective design solutions.

Bayview at the Grand

GMC provided the geotechnical evaluation and construction testing for 5 multi-story condominium buildings, up to 8 stories in heights, several parking lots and roadways. A total of 23 soil borings were drilled across the site to provide an assessment. Due to the excessive column loads the buildings were designed to be supported on 60 foot long auguercast piles. GMC performed Material Testing Services during the site preparation, monitored the pile load tests and the installation of the piles, concrete sampling and testing, post-tensioning inspections, reinforcing steel observations, masonry grout sampling and testing, structural steel observation and testing, and fireproofing. The team also provided Special Inspection services per the IBC Code.
