Oxford Water Treatment Plant
GMC provided engineering and geotechnical engineering services for the water treatment plant project for the City of Oxford. The plant utilizes the abandoned quarry as the primary source of water and the quarry is supplemented by Choccolocco Creek. The quarry serves as a pre-settling basin for the creek water. From the quarry, water will be treated with a 4 MGD surface water plant with a capacity to be expanded to 6 MGD. This source will serve Oxford for the next 50 years. GMC provided geotechnical and construction services, Shallow Foundation Observation and Concrete Sampling & Testing. Geotechnical exploration consisted of drilling soil borings across the site to evaluate the subsurface conditions for the plant. Geotechnical recommendations included site preparation, evaluation of the on-site materials to be used as fill, and shallow foundation design recommendations.
