Industrial access road officially opens in the former Russell Corporation site

September 29, 2014 · Projects

The Lake Martin Area Economic Development Alliance (LMAEDA) hosted a ribbon cutting on Sept.29, 2014, to mark the official opening of the Central Alabama Business Park Industrial Access Road in Alexander City, Ala.

GMC’s team of engineers has been working for three years with the City of Alexander City, Tallapoosa County, LMAEDA, Russell Brands and the Alabama Department of Transportation Industrial Access Committee to redevelop the abandoned property and revitalize the area’s industry.

The Industrial Access Road runs through the former Russell Corporation site, connecting U.S. Highway 280 to Lee Street. This new road is a key component of a redevelopment plan created by Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood (GMC) engineers and is a huge milestone for all of the entities involved and the region as a whole.
