Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is pleased to announce the addition of industry leaders Gable Stubbs, AIA, and Jack Mayfield, PE, in Charleston, South Carolina.

A Carolina native, Stubbs will serve as vice president of architecture in Charleston. In this role, he will leverage his decades of design experience and deep-rooted relationships within the market to help the firm deliver significant architectural projects that will positively impact the region.

Throughout his 30-plus years as an architect, Stubbs has been involved in planning, designing and building large-scale projects, primarily in the recreational, educational, institutional and commercial sectors. His previous roles have included founder, partner and principal of architectural firms, most recently serving as principal and director of marketing and business development at SGA|NW.

Stubbs was recognized as one of the state’s leading architects on GSA Business Report’s 2021 Architects Power List. He is also a graduate of Leadership Greenville Class XXVI and was named one of Greenville Business Magazine’s Best and Brightest Under 35. An active member of the community, he currently serves as a member of the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce Central Chamber Council; Urban Land Institute South Carolina Government and Management Committee; and the South Carolina Economic Developers Association Conference Board.

Mayfield joins GMC as aviation manager in Charleston. In this role, he will be responsible for project management, business development and strategic plan development for aviation clients throughout South Carolina and the Southeast. He has more than 30 years of experience in multidisciplinary project planning, design and construction management on complex aviation projects, serving both air carrier and general aviation airports.

Throughout his career, Mayfield has worked for reputable engineering consulting firms, serving in roles including vice president, director of aviation services, senior project manager and aviation consultant. His extensive portfolio of work includes airport improvement projects throughout the region, including local airports such as Charleston Executive Airport (JZI) in Johns Island, Mount Pleasant Regional Airport (LRO) in Mount Pleasant, Allendale County Airport (AQX) in Fairfax and Santee Cooper Regional Airport (MNI) in Manning.

Mayfield is a licensed professional engineer in South Carolina and Georgia, in addition to being a Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Level II design-certified professional.

“Jack and Gable will be tremendous additions to our team in South Carolina, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have them on board,” said GMC CEO Jeffrey Brewer. “Their expertise and work within their respective fields complements the work GMC is currently doing throughout South Carolina and bolsters our commitment to providing highly specialized services across the region.”

GMC is one of the largest multidisciplined architecture and engineering firms in the Southeast, with more than 450 professionals located throughout the region. The firm established its presence in South Carolina more than 15 years ago and has offices in Greenville and Columbia.
