GMC expands footprint into North Carolina

May 6, 2022 · Announcements

GMC has officially entered the North Carolina market with the opening of its Charlotte office, led by Corbin Jenkins, PE. As Vice President of North Carolina, Jenkins will focus on growing the firm’s operations and client base, as well as establishing partnerships in the area to deliver GMC’s multidisciplined engineering and architecture services throughout the region.

“With its proximity to our established Columbia and Greenville, South Carolina offices, the opportunities it presents as a growing U.S. city and the existing client relationships we have in the area, opening an office in Charlotte was a strategic and logical next step for our firm,” GMC CEO Jeffrey Brewer said. “I’m excited to officially plant ourselves in North Carolina and am confident in Corbin’s ability to lead this new endeavor.”

Jenkins has been a part of GMC’s engineering team in Greenville, South Carolina since 2017. His primary focus has been on water and wastewater infrastructure projects, in addition to having experience with commercial and residential land development projects, roadway and streetscape improvements and master planning. A registered engineer is North and South Carolina, he has partnered with numerous municipalities, government agencies and private corporations over the years to deliver projects that will enhance their communities.

“This is an exciting step for GMC. Expanding our footprint into North Carolina is a direct result of the hard work and dedication of our team,” Jenkins said. “I look forward to the opportunities ahead as we become more engrained in the Charlotte community and North Carolina.”

While the Charlotte office marks its first location in the state, GMC is no stranger to North Carolina. The firm’s portfolio of work includes projects such as water treatment plant improvements for Lincoln County; the GE Aviation Manufacturing Facility in Asheville; Kimberly Hampton Primary School at Fort Bragg; Triangle Ambulatory Surgery Center in Raleigh; Southpoint Ambulatory Surgery Center in Durham; and renovations and additions at North Carolina Specialty Hospital in Durham, among others.

The GMC Charlotte office is located at 1515 Mockingbird Lane, 7th Floor (Suite 7133). Jenkins and the GMC team will be working to build a talented group of professionals dedicated to carrying out the firm’s mission of ‘building communities that thrive’ in North Carolina.
