The Town of Pendleton was established in 1790 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. As the town continues to increase in population with new homes being constructed in Pendleton, it is important for maintenance and upgrades to take place while maintaining the historical presence. The town brought on Goodwyn Mills Cawood to provide streetscape improvements for the historic downtown area.
The streetscape improvements allowed for greater accessibility to downtown Pendleton which led to increased traffic flow and further investments from local businesses and restaurants. The improvements included parking spaces, curbs, gutters and sidewalks. Revisions for the sidewalks are located at the intersection of North Mechanic Street and Main Street.
For the project, GMC coordinated with SCDOT for the necessary permits. GMC provided civil engineering and transportation services.
