The Fayetteville City Hall and City Center Park project has earned an Award of Merit, Government/Public Building from ENR Southeast’s Best Projects Awards. Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) architects designed the new multi-story city hall, along with a 9-acre park that serves as a destination spot for residents and visitors alike.

GMC was retained by the City of Fayetteville to design a more efficient and effective city hall workspace while encouraging economic development activity in Fayetteville’s Downtown District. The new building features 20 offices, seven conference rooms, a new council chamber and four open workstations and training rooms accessible by the community. With this new building, all city functions have been consolidated into one place, making it easy for the community to access the city departments.

GMC landscape architects designed the City Center Park, featuring a playground, splash pad, picnic pavilions and dog park for the community to enjoy. The park also has an amphitheater to host local events as well as features operable glass walls that can remain open for the public or rentable for special events.

Several of GMC’s disciplines were part of this project including architecture, landscape architecture, geotechnical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, environmental and surveying.
