A little over a year after placing the final structural beam, Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) officially cut the ribbon on the brand-new Stephen and Denise Smith Student-Athlete Performance Center.
Located at the north end of Floyd Stadium, this new facility serves as the permanent home for MTSU Football, while also offering a centralized hub for performance, preparation, and recovery across every aspect of the student-athlete journey for MTSU’s 17 varsity teams.

Designed to elevate the daily experience of student-athletes, the 85,000-square-foot project provides top-tier amenities, including a dedicated athletic training facility for recovery and wellness, weight room, nutrition center and a premium dining space that overlooks the field.
As the new home for Blue Raiders football, the program now boasts a sleek team locker room, players’ lounge, an advanced all-team meeting room, as well as position-specific meeting spaces and a new office suite custom-designed for the coaching staff.

The ribbon cutting ceremony drew a large crowd of fans, supporters, alumni, student-athletes, university leaders and community members – celebrating not only a long-awaited facility but a bold step forward in MTSU’s pursuit of championship-level performance.
GMC is proud to have designed this facility in partnership with HOK, as well as provided interior design, geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing on the project.
