Cullman Regional Airport
Cullman, Alabama
GMC started working with the Cullman Regional Airport in 2010. Since then, various projects have been successfully completed and a few are still underway. Included in the list of completed projects is the Airport Apron Improvements project which involved the removal and replacement of the main terminal asphalt apron with concrete. The project was justified in the use of concrete for the $1 million project through life cycle analysis. A second project was the design and construction of an 80’ x 100’ corporate hangar. GMC designed the hangar, site work, utilities, and apron expansion for Sky Dive Alabama. Other completed projects include the construction of two 8-unit T-hangar buildings and associated taxiways; drainage improvements involving the removal and replacement of a 72” culvert across airfield and the rehabilitation of the concrete box culvert under runway; removal and replacement of Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI) System, and the runway extension justification study which justified the extension of Runway 02 / 20 700’ to accommodate the aviation needs of the airport. Current ongoing projects include the assistance with 26 property acquisitions for airport development and obstruction removal; an Environmental Assessment for Runway Extension; the Airport Layout Plan; and a Taxiway Rehabilitation.
