The new 6,800-square-foot Emergency Department at Washington County Regional Medical Center enhances access to high-quality, patient-centered care for the Sandersville community. Seamlessly integrated with existing facilities and designed to exceed current standards, the space provides a modern, efficient environment that supports both patients and staff.

The Emergency Department was designed to streamline care and reduce wait times through a clear separation of low- and high-acuity patient flows. Four fast-track rooms accommodate lower-acuity patients, while a main corridor – directly accessible from the ambulance drop-off – leads to a range of specialized treatment spaces, including a trauma room, patient-of-size room, standard treatment rooms, a pediatric room and an airborne infection isolation room. This layout enhances efficiency while ensuring patients receive the appropriate level of care quickly and effectively
Designed to meet and exceed current FGI guidelines and building codes, the new Emergency Department emphasizes efficiency, safety and performance. A centralized core – housing triage, the nurses’ station, and key support spaces – provides clear visibility and quick access to clinical areas, improving communication and response times. Additional features, including a decontamination room and anti-ligature secure holding areas, support a wide spectrum of patient needs.
