Linley Park has been thoughtfully reimagined to create a safer, more connected and community-focused recreational destination. What began as a vision for a more cohesive park system evolved into a comprehensive redesign that enhances accessibility, improves stormwater management and restores the park’s natural character. Through collaborative planning and years of community input, the revitalized park now offers modern amenities, expanded green space and a restored Whitner Creek.

A central component of the project is the full restoration of Whitner Creek. Previously confined to a straight, concrete-lined channel that contributed to flooding during heavy rain events, the creek has been redesigned as a natural stream channel connected to its floodplain. This approach not only improves stormwater performance and reduces flood risk, but also introduces a scenic walking path and enhanced habitat – adding both function and beauty to the park experience.
The park features a state-of-the-art playground, a 1,200-square-foot pavilion, two modern restroom facilities, expanded parking, open lawn areas for gatherings and additional walking trails. An improved greenway connection links the park to the city’s recreation complex, strengthening access and connectivity and creating a welcoming space designed to serve the Anderson community for generations to come.
