For nearly the past century, the causeway land bridge has served as an impediment to natural tidal flows in the upper portion of the Mobile Bay estuary and lower portion of the Mobile-Tensaw River Delta.
Our team of coastal engineers evaluated improvements in circulation and flushing, and potential changes in sedimentation patterns, as a result of proposed bridge openings and box culverts along the roadway alignment. Simulations were performed over a wide range of hydrodynamic and meteorological conditions to capture the existing and proposed behaviors under both current and projected future conditions.
