Named after the first recipient of the University of West Florida athletic scholarship in 1967, the Sandy Sansing Sports Medicine Center represents the University’s commitment to providing student-athletes with the best resources to support their academic and athletic pursuits. Located at the campus’s Darrell Gooden Center, the facility spans 10,000 square feet and offers an array of advanced features to support athletic recovery, performance and wellness.
A highlight of the facility is its state-of-the-art hydrotherapy area, which includes two pools – one with an underwater treadmill and built-in motion-monitoring cameras to evaluate athlete movement and progress. The facility also includes twelve rehabilitation tables and four taping tables, allowing athletic trainers to provide personalized care and treatment.
Beyond physical care, the center also prioritizes academic success and overall student support. It includes a dedicated rehabilitation and physical therapy area, physician exam rooms and athletic training offices. The facility also offers an academic center, computer lab and tutoring rooms to help student-athletes balance sports and academics experience.
