Replacing the Mobile Civic Center, Mobile Arena will be a state-of-the-art venue for entertainment, sports and of course, the city's beloved Mardi Gras. With an office located in the heart of downtown, Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is proud to be serving as the Architect of Record and landscape architect, in partnership with Populous as the design architect. The much-anticipated arena is planned to be completed by 2027.
The city's motto is "born to celebrate" and this venue will be the perfect place to do just that! The arena has been uniquely designed to support Mobile’s Mardi Gras traditions while providing a modern event venue capable of bringing in major acts. Flexible seating and layout options will allow the new arena to easily accommodate a range of activities, including smaller shows and larger events with more than 10,000 spectators and fans. The official groundbreaking was held on May 21, 2025. Project partners and city officials celebrated the state-of-the-art venue that is poised to make Alabama's Port City a destination for live entertainment along the Gulf Coast. “Goodwyn Mills Cawood is thrilled and honored to play a role in such a transformative project happening right here in our own backyard,” said GMC Senior Architect Keith Parker. “This cutting-edge venue will bring live entertainment, concerts, and — of course — our beloved Mardi Gras celebrations to new heights."
