The renovated Rice Creek Elementary School will create a student-centered learning environment that serves as a home away from home for the Rice Creek community. Building additions consist of a new Gymnasium, Echo Lab Classroom, and support spaces, plus an addition to expand the cafeteria, building renovations are small and consist of interior wall alterations that make two MOD Classrooms and conversion of a classroom to offices. The Gymnasium addition is separated by a pedestrian walkway. Site work consists of reconfiguration of the bus loop to share the drive with Ridgeview High School.
The new gymnasium and renovated cafeteria will provide much needed large gathering space, allowing the school to increase its offerings of programs and events while also solving basic functional needs.
With space freed up by the new additions, the school now can house additional office space, storage and meeting space. Having this space will allow the school to increase its offerings of programs and events while also solving basic functional needs.
There was also an emphasis put on the STEAMM program, E-FIT and the media center. Special attention was paid to the design of these spaces to create warm and inviting student-centered learning environments.
These concepts extend beyond the walls of the school, providing much needed improvements to site circulation. The relocated bus drive and expanded stacking drive significantly improve vehicular safety and alleviate unnecessary burdens on both parents and instructional time.
