The Graniteville Elementary School project is a successful example of adaptive reuse, demonstrating how thoughtful design can bring new life into an existing facility. Originally constructed in the 1960s as an adult education center for Aiken County Public Schools, the building was repurposed to serve as a modern elementary school. The transformation focused on meeting current educational needs, safety requirements and accessibility standards while remaining authentic to the building’s original design.

The Pontiac Elementary School addition and renovation project sought to create a learning environment that not only met the functional needs of the school but also fostered a sense of community, collaboration, and belonging. The design approach aimed to transform the school into a vibrant hub where students could thrive academically and socially.

The renovated Rice Creek Elementary School will create a student-centered learning environment that serves as a home away from home for the Rice Creek community. Building additions consist of a new Gymnasium, Echo Lab Classroom, and support spaces, plus an addition to expand the cafeteria, building renovations are small and consist of interior wall alterations that make two MOD Classrooms and conversion of a classroom to offices. The Gymnasium addition is separated by a pedestrian walkway. Site work consists of reconfiguration of the bus loop to share the drive with Ridgeview High School.

Clemson University’s new Nieri Family Alumni and Visitors Center serves as the new front door to campus, anchoring the Tiger experience through each step in the student journey. Creating a shared destination point for first time visitors and returning alumni alike, the 102,450-square-foot building brings together under one roof the Admissions & Visitors Center, Career Center for Professional Development, Clemson Alumni Association, Development Office, the Clemson University Foundation, and the Board of Trustees Staff Offices, as well as the Clark Family Pro-Shop for the Walker Golf Course , and the Lucky Duck Bistro, a full service restaurant.

GMC was secured by Laurens County Water and Sewer Commission (LCWSC) to evaluate alternatives to incorporate the new surface water treatment plant on Lake Greenwood into their existing distribution system.

The new water treatment plant and raw water intake on Lake Greenwood were awarded in two phases: Phase I consisted of an evaluation to define the design conditions, and Phase II consisted of executing the design. Defining the design conditions in Phase I consisted of population and flow projections, public involvement, permitting, hydraulic analysis as well as piloting of four treatment technologies.
