Size: 360 acre
Project Awards: National High School Baseball Coaches Association Field of the Year; SportsEvents' 9 American Ballparks Every Planner Must See
The 360-acre complex includes two signature baseball and softball fields, nine additional baseball and softball fields, trailhead and picnic facilities, concession stands, toilet rooms, locker rooms, maintenance facilities, administrative offices, meeting rooms, press boxes, four soccer fields, two playgrounds, a 30-acre lake with three miles of walking track and lake pavilions. The signature baseball field and signature softball field is currently being used as the home field for the Jacksonville State University collegiate baseball and softball teams as well as the site for last year’s and this year’s Ohio Valley Conference softball championship series. The complex also, for the first time since 2001, gave Oxford High School its own regulation track facility and will serve as the home track facility for Jacksonville State and will also host the OVC conference championships this year. The 2 signature fields and accompanying support facilities and ball fields are now the home of the Oxford High School’s varsity baseball and softball teams. A study conducted by the City’s own finance department estimates the new facility will generate $13.5 million annually for the local economy. In addition, Oxford has already successfully bid for regional and state sports tournaments. City leaders, architects and leaders of the Muscogee Creek Nation have also developed and implemented an educational component at the complex that reflects the site’s abundant and rich Native American history.
