The Caters Lake Park, originally established in 1923, has been transformed into a place of modern sustainability and community wellness. Preserving historic charm

The design carefully preserved the park’s historic elements, maintaining the charm of the past while adding modern amenities for today’s residents. Family-friendly upgrades, including improved trails and updated picnic areas, make the park even more inviting for the community. The project also addressed key concerns such as erosion and overgrown areas, allowing visitors to enjoy walking paths along the scenic lake.

Landmark of Anderson

Features of the project include pedestrian pathways, native landscaping and a dedicated bird-nesting habitat that contributes to the civic infrastructure. The custom timber-framed covered bridge was also constructed to serve as a landmark of the park, making it a piece of permanent placemaking for the City of Anderson. GMC is proud to have provided architecture, civil engineering, geotechnical engineering and environmental services to help bring this project to life.
