GMC worked with the City of Dahlonega to develop a list of known stormwater-related capital projects and needs to address flooding and other drainage problems in the city. The city also wanted to expand the current level of service being provided to residents in terms of stormwater-related services.
The feasibility study prepared by GMC gave the city the tools they needed to justify implementation of the Stormwater User Fee. GMC worked with Dahlonega staff to develop the desired future level of service, capital improvement program, and the funding strategy necessary to address these items.
GMC delineated all impervious area located within the city limits and developed a public outreach program that was used to notify and educate residents and business owners in the city about the program.
This project was successfully implemented and the city worked through the drainage projects identified in the Capital Improvement Program.
