GMC assisted the City of Tybee Island with an audit of their Floodplain Management Program to allow the City maximizing points in the Community Rating System (CRS).
The audit performed by GMC staff reviewed each activity in the CRS manual to determine where the City was currently receiving credit and where additional points could be captured. GMC staff completed a detailed assessment of the City’s Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance, and other development regulation, to determine their level of compliance with FEMA, the needed changes, and the number of CRS points that could be awarded for requirements that exceed minimum standards.
The project resulted in the city receiving a Class 5 score in the CRS program, which is an accomplishment that few cities in the state have achieved.
