Vanderbilt hired GMC to design the renovation of their varsity women’s, men’s and visitor’s basketball locker spaces.
Located on campus in historic Memorial Gymnasium, the mandate was to create timeless and inspirational areas for player activities and learning.
This facility offers study, lounge and nutrition areas for healthy team building and communal well-being. Bathroom amenities are spa-like for players to relax and unwind after games and practice. The thoughtful design ensured spaces served multiple purposes and were appropriate in scale for the size of athletes common in SEC athletics.
The scope expanded to include the existing entry lobby, the surrounding corridors, the women’s coaches’ locker room, men’s coaches’ locker room as well as a complete overhaul of the HVAC system. The entire project was completed on an expedited schedule.
