Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) recently joined Sarasota County to cut the ribbon on their new Planning and Development Services “One Stop” building.

Situated on a 6.5-acre celery fields site at the Northwest corner of Apex Road and Palmer Boulevard, the 55,600-square-foot general office space will centralize several departments engaged in the review and permitting of projects in North Sarasota County, making it easier for residents and contractors to get answers quickly while improving coordination among staff.
In addition, the facility will serve as the operations center for damage assessment teams during recovery phases after events such as hurricanes or tropical storms.
Building features include a welcoming lobby; permit center; meeting rooms; collaboration areas designed for community use and administrative or public meetings.; and office space for departments including building, planning, zoning, environmental protection, code enforcement, property management and development review coordination.
GMC provided architecture and interior design services on the project, with Halfacre Construction Company as the construction manager.
“It has been a pleasure working alongside county staff, as well as our partners at Halfacre Construction on this collaborative effort. We’re excited to see the meaningful impact this project will bring to the community for years to come,” said GMC Architecture Practice Leader Julian Norman-Webb.
