About GMC Nashville

Known as the “Music City” our Nashville office is full of energy and creativity.

Located in the heart of Middle Tennessee, GMC’s Nashville office opened its doors in 2007, following the acquisition of Highers and Koonce Associates and marking the firm’s initial footprint in Tennessee. Since then, the office has experienced substantial growth, expanding its team to include architects, engineers, environmental specialists and more, fueled in part by multiple strategic acquisitions.

Conveniently located in the West End neighborhood, the office offers the benefits of being close to downtown without the congestion. The area is known for its character, charm and a wide variety of local restaurants, parks and activities – all contributing to a great work environment and quality of life. Team members are involved with local organizations such as Special Olympics Tennessee, TennGreen Land Conservancy and the Tennessee Stormwater Association, as part of our mission to remain local to our communities.

GMC has completed a variety projects in the area including the Vanderbilt University Basketball Locker Rooms, Goodlettsville Elementary School and the MTSU Student Athlete Performance Center.

The mission of GES with its wide array of student needs was so clearly expressed by the principal and her team, and the tapestry of the design concept was woven around the various unique spaces, inside and outside, needed for the special programs and services provided by the school. Site limitations and challenges led to creative ways in which to configure the new building and tie all functions together in a colorful and usable manner.
The Gallatin County Regional Airport will be the first general aviation airport to serve the I-71 corridor between Louisville and Cincinnati. The non-commercial airport features a 5,000-foot by 75-foot concrete runway with a full parallel taxiway and apron. The airport closes a logistical gap for aircraft users in the area while boosting economic development, emergency services and tourism in the region.

As part of their commitment to empower one of their premiere team sports with maximum potential, Vanderbilt has renovated the varsity women’s and men’s basketball locker spaces into one of the finest game day locker room experiences in the SEC.

These multi-phased projects were performed for Williamson County Schools to expand their campuses as a reaction to growth. The expansion accommodated approximately 1,650 new students for Page Middle School alone. Both Page Middle School and High School were approaching capacity and needed to greatly expand the occupancy space they were currently utilizing. Preliminary design plans for expanding the schools include expansion of common areas, new classrooms and enhanced athletic facilities.
